Toledo Health Department announces events for Minority Health Month

April is recognized as Minority Health Month, and the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has announced the first of several events to kick off their month-long celebration. The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has announced several events for Minority Health Month, including "Black Motherhood: Tackling Postpartum Depression" and "Healthy You/Healthy Kids" at the Wayman Palmer YMCA. The events will also feature keynote speakers from Jasmine Pope, founder and lead therapist from Blessings in DisguiZe. TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - April is Minority Health Month, and the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has announced the first of several events to kick off their month-long celebration.

The following events have been announced:

“Black Motherhood: Tackling Postpartum Depression” is set for April 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kent Branch Library. Expectant mothers, mother of young children and other caregivers are encouraged to hear from keynote speaker Jasmine Pope, who is the founder and lead therapist from Blessings in DisguiZe. Lunch will be provided, along with a gift card raffle and community resources.

“Healthy You/Healthy Kids” is set for April 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wayman Palmer YMCA. Multiple organizations from the Toledo area will come together to offer workout classes, health screenings, lead screenings for children ages 1-6, rock climbing, giveaways and more.
