COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKEF) -- Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost says Ohio's heartbeat law is unconstitutional, according to a court filing on Monday.

The filing come after abortion clinics asked a Hamilton County judge to throw out the law after Ohioans voted to enshrine reproductive rights in the state constitution last November.

The 2019 heartbeat law bans most abortions in the state once a fetal heartbeat is detected. The case argues it's invalid after Issue 1 was passed.

Yost agrees for the most part, but is asking the court to only eliminate the part of the law that bans abortions after six weeks, and keep the rest of the law in place.
