Ohio mother says rental nightmare came with sewage backup, mold, and a hush-for-refund offer
Carr pointed to vents covered with tape to stop a bad smell from circulating through the house. Cierra Carr, an Ohio mother, claims that her family's new rental in Toledo, which she paid $2,600 without receiving a formal lease, turned into a nightmare when sewage backed up into the bathtub and she received a refund with a hush order. The home's plumbing issues were discovered after Carr moved in and she expressed concern over mold in the basement. Property records list Khanh Hong Pham, also known as Ken, as a co-owner of the house. Carr had taken the home as a chance at a fresh start for her two boys, but the conditions she described pushed her to plan another move less than a month later. The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has yet to comment on the reported conditions.
